Hello Everybody, how are we all? Good? Bad? Sad? Depressed? Tired?
This is my second blog entry and it is exiting, like an anniversary. Anyway, as you can see from my title, we all know what we are going to talk about and we all know what it is about and we have all probably talked about this before. What influence does media have on us? Why does it even have any influence? What does it mean to us? And what does it mean to you?
Everyone has a different view about media and they might find it useful in some cases and some might find it useless in others and that is what you have to measure up and weigh up. In some cases someone might find media useful and useless, but that is normal if you are just in the middle and confused.
Media is good as you get information, updates from around the world, you learn about new trends, new fashion statements, new heroes, new celebrities and other new things. And these are good as you can always think that through and say yeah, media is something that involves a lot, not just news and magazines but radio, TV etc. So it is a wide spread subject where you receive information easily and quickly wherever you are.
Now the negative side, personally I am more on this side of the fence as sometimes they portray the wrong image to society and those younger than you and me. Media makes this stereotype of different people and creates an image in everyone’s mind of how you should act, behave and look; and if you do stick to their plan than you are perfect in their eyes. They create different stereotypes for different ages, genders, people, cultures etc. That’s why it is harder for some and easier for others. That is why my title is “is media the leader?”
In a way it is, it controls and plays with other peoples thoughts and makes other people think that their view of perfect is everyone’s view of perfection, but that is not the case. If you know me well, than you will know that I hate the word “skinny” and “anorexic”. They are horrible words that make girls and in some cases boys think that they are not prefect enough for society or their culture. Perfection is being you, yourself. And I have learnt that over time, being someone else or acting like something different won’t work but if you act yourself and dress how you want, and eat how much YOU want, then people will see that and won’t judge you.
Media is the cause of some peoples deaths, over bullying, anorexia, self-harm. They make people act like that, people decide that this way is the one and only way, but everyone and everything has a choice. That’s why you should always ignore the haters and live on like nothing happened and that everything is perfect.
“Always look on the bright side of life”
That’s why if anything brings you or your friends or your family down, always look on the bright side of life. Always look at something happier and that there is always a way out even though people say that there isn’t. However, media might not influence you like it affects me because I really don’t like the celeb gossip magazines and how they describe every celebrity, just because they are famous doesn’t mean we need to know every single detail of their life that’s why I don’t like it because just because they eat 5 slices of pizza they look fat and ugly and they are going to die of obesity. NO NO NO NO, I eat about 10 and I am fine so yes I think all of us will be just fine.
